Captain's Log — Issue 009

I've been working on something new for about three weeks now.

I thought it would be ready by now. It's not. Life has a way of getting in the middle of things and honestly this one is taking a bit longer than I expected.

I'm not going to rush it. When it's ready you'll be the first to know.

But while I was sitting with that I kept coming back to Blackbeard. Because he had the same problem except he turned the waiting into the weapon.

Most people fight to be seen. They correct misunderstandings. They prove doubters wrong. Blackbeard did the opposite. Every year someone underestimated him was a year they weren't watching closely enough to stop him. He didn't waste energy on the verdict. He used the invisibility to his advantage.

Blackbeard wasn't overlooked despite his plan. Being overlooked was the plan.

I have to remind myself that slow doesn't mean stopped. Its coming and that's enough for now.

Then preparation. Then waiting to feel ready. Then maybe action. That sequence is where most things go to die. Luffy...

Anime Mindset Captain's Log — Issue 012 This isn't a motivation problem. You know what needs to happen. You've known for a while. The next step is obvious. And you still haven't done anything. The brain treats an unstarted task differently from an impossible one. An impossible task gets filed away. An unstarted task sits in active memory — taking up space, generating low-grade stress, making everything else feel heavier than it is. The longer it sits unstarted the more weight it accumulates....
